About Hermitage Manor House

This impressive, five-star property sits on its very own private island in the River Lune. Tucked away in a private, gated estate at the far end of the horseshoe bend known as the Crook O’ Lune, and reachable only via a road bridge, it’s the perfect destination for an exclusive celebration with extended family or a large group of friends. Despite its seclusion, it’s easy to access, with the M6 motorway just 5 miles away. There are wonderful walks from your door, offering gorgeous scenery and plenty of wildlife. Take a picnic and paddle in the river, or try some fishing, available on site. For exhilarating days outdoors, the fells and lakes of the Lake District National Park can be reached within 30 miles, as can the Yorkshire Dales. For days at the beach, Morecambe is around 7 miles away, and the attractions of Lancaster are less than 5 miles away. Sitting within 6 acres of grounds, this four-storey house is part of the Hermitage Estate, built for the Lord Mayor of Lancaster in 1849. Its history is evident in the form of spacious rooms with high ceilings and elegant architectural features, all coupled with modern amenities, including Smart TVs in every bedroom and luxurious bathrooms. As you walk through the double front doors of this impressive property, you’ll be wowed simply by its huge entrance hall. The first room you come to is the wood-panelled billiards room, which boasts a full-size snooker table – ready for post-dinner challenge tournaments – as well as classic Chesterfield sofas. Next, the fabulous lounge/diner offers a choice of comfortable seating areas and a Smart TV, plus a vast table where everyone can come together for delicious feasts. Follow the hall to the casino room, ready for some Bond-style games (tuxedos optional) with its tables set up for roulette, Blackjack and more. This flows into the sleek, spacious kitchen, where there’s another option for dining in the form of a long, island breakfast table, and appliances include a wine fridge. From here you can access the glass-roofed cinema room, which has raked seating, a huge screen and even a popcorn machine. Completing this level is the first of the double bedrooms, a shower room/utility, and a useful separate WC. Take the stairs down to the lower ground floor, where there’s a special surprise – a fully equipped hair salon, ready for you to prepare for your big occasion in style. Three further bedrooms are on this level: a twin (with an en-suite shower room), a double, and a family room with two double beds. There’s also a shower room with a WC. Head back up to ground level, then take the grand staircase to the first floor, where there are four more bedrooms. Here you’ll find the master king-size room, which has its own balcony with seating, plus a family room with two double and two single beds (and an en-suite shower), a double and a twin. There’s also a family bathroom and a separate shower room. The top floor is home to a fantastic king-size bedroom with a four-poster bed, vaulted ceilings and window seats, where you can sit and gaze at the views. Completing this floor is a shower room with WC. The amazing facilities continue in the stunning grounds, where you’ll want to spend time relaxing in the sunshine, sipping a morning coffee or enjoying a sundowner. The enclosed rear garden has a lawn and a furnished patio that features a large, built-in BBQ and plenty of comfortable seating, ready for al fresco meals. Work off your food with a game of outdoor table tennis, or unwind in the hot tub, followed by a sauna and perhaps a session in the swim spa. Ample private parking is also provided at this property.
